The Principal Cloud Architect will have the opportunity to help shape the next generation Cloud strategy and solutions for Charles Schwab. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale cloud design across multiple cloud platforms as well as a deep understanding and experience with AI and Crypto technologies. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise, strong architectural storytelling, and the ability to bridge executive vision with engineering execution. Position Responsibilities • As a Principal Cloud Architect, you will be an ambitious individual contributor; provide efficiently organized and designed logic, be highly motivated and well versed in developing robust easily maintainable cloud solutions • Lead architecture design and delivery of secure, scalable, and compliant solutions across financial services, crypto/blockchain, and AI/ML domains • Ensure all designs comply with financial regulations, crypto-specific governance, and AI ethics frameworks • Ability to effectively transition your design reference materials to engineering organizations, and engineered solutions • You can quickly understand complex problems and identify simple solutions • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and executives translating technical language into actionable plans; have good listening skills and ask great questions • Good interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail is required • A willingness to learn and grow is a must. Teammate with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor. You can transition and cross train peer teams on your designs and technology development • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations • Previous experience in a highly regulated environment with appreciation for audit and regulatory principles will benefit the applicant. • Strong architecture, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to lead sometimes ambiguous, and constantly evolving requirements • Self-directed leadership and organization against a strategic framework and mutually agreed priorities as a leading member in a high-paced and focused team What you have Required Qualifications • 8+ years highly technical experience with cloud design in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS) • Experience creating detailed architectural designs in either GCP (preferred) or AWS • Experience with Cloud Security products and following secure design principles • Experienced in the development of policy and operational processes to insure high availability and service of entire technology stack, from front-end web traffic to back-end big-data infrastructure • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cryptocurrency/blockchain platforms and protocols • Hands-on experience architecting AI/ML solutions, including data pipelines, model deployment, and governance • Coding proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, Salt or similar automation tools • Working proficiency with SCM and DevOps tool suites; examples include Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Concourse etc. • Experience designing for mission critical, 24x7 systems • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience adopting or leading continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, related degree OR related practical experience • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect is a plus • Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
