As an IT Specialist, you will provide fast and kind support to ensure internal systems run smoothly while collaborating with Security to maintain a secure environment. You will troubleshoot issues, improve self-service documentation, and manage hardware and software assets.
Candidates should have experience in IT Support, particularly in remote-first or startup environments, with strong skills in macOS and Linux. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, adaptable mindset are essential.
IT Specialist You’ll enable Chainguardians to do their best work through fast, kind support and low-friction IT that’s secure by default—meeting people where they are across time zones, tickets, Slack, and everything in between. The role, in a nutshell As an early IT Specialist at a remote-first, deeply technical company, you’ll be the human heartbeat behind our internal systems—keeping laptops, logins, and line-of-business tools humming while partnering closely with Security to keep our environment tight. You’ll triage, troubleshoot, and ship clear answers quickly, all while leveling up self-service and automation so the next person doesn’t have to ask. You’ll thrive if you enjoy wearing many hats, communicating with care, and building durable foundations as we scale. What you’ll do Prioritize excellent service in Slack, email, and our ticketing system—respond quickly, close the loop, and follow up with clear, accurate fixes. Own and improve our ticketing process: triage, categorize, SLAs, and clean documentation that helps everyone move faster. Troubleshoot across hardware, software, peripherals, and identity/access issues; resolve what you can and escalate crisply when needed. Write self-service docs and how-tos in Confluence so Chainguardians can help themselves next time. Acquire, image, and maintain endpoints (macOS & Linux); manage software installs, updates, and configurations. Manage hardware and software assets end-to-end through our MDM and security tooling; keep inventories accurate and lifecycle events clean. Partner with IT leadership to resolve complex or cross-functional issues; propose pragmatic solutions and drive them to closure. Ensure day-to-day compliance with IT/Security and company policies; help make “secure by default” the easy path. Participate in an on-call rotation (including occasional holidays) to keep the lights on and the team unblocked. Run a smooth employee lifecycle: onboard new Chainguardians with the right hardware, access, and tooling; collaborate closely with Talent/HR. Work with vendors to order, track, and ship hardware worldwide; own the last mile so Day 1 feels like a welcome, not a scavenger hunt. What we’re looking for Experience in IT Support at a remote-first or startup environment; you’re comfortable with ambiguity and speed. Strong hands-on experience with macOS and working knowledge of Linux. Experience administering MDM (e.g., Jamf, Kandji, Fleet, or similar) and endpoint/security tooling. A practical understanding of IT Security best practices and a desire to improve them through process and automation. Excellent written and verbal communication—able to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences with empathy. Willingness to travel occasionally for team meetups or onsite needs. Self-starter who can switch between heads-down execution and team collaboration without dropping the thread. Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort wearing “many hats” as we grow. A builder’s mindset—motivated to create the internal systems and experiences that help a company scale.
