C.H Robinson is seeking Principal Training and Development Specialist who will play a role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization’s training and development initiatives. You will be leading large-scale programs, influencing organizational change, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and driving innovation in learning and development. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of training solutions, including hi-po or strategic commercial learning programs, new initiative rollouts, workshops, custom learning experiences, self-led modules, job aids, and knowledge checks, based on learning principles. Ensure all training solutions are aligned with the established vision and organizational goals, apply learning principles to achieve consistency and effectiveness. Provide feedback, evaluation, and follow-up to stakeholders and co-curriculum designers on effectiveness of materials, seek feedback from participants for continuous improvement of courses and program content. Oversee and conduct comprehensive program and content reviews to ensure high-quality standards are met and that performance KPIs are in place. There may be an opportunity to facilitate, train, and present complex programs and strategic learning solutions with the ability to proficiently apply understanding of business terminology and concepts in the classroom. Foster an inclusive learning environment. Anticipate and be responsive to participant needs. Develop and oversee comprehensive evaluation strategies, utilizing data-driven insights to enhance programs. Drive innovation in training methodologies and learning technologies. Provide team feedback to improve training materials and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Drive change management efforts through strong influence and communication to inspire early adoption of new initiatives and processes Act as a change agent and links the change to the strategic needs of the business. Minimizes dissatisfaction and resistance to change Identify areas of change opportunity; partner with and influence those who have direct responsibility to create needed change Analyze complex learning needs and ensure training solutions incorporate accessibility standards, appealing to multiple learning types, within the scalable training solutions. Build and maintain strong advisor level relationships with stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Collaborate with stakeholders and mentors to ensure the overall success of the program by maintaining a consistent and high-quality experience for all learners Build strong working relationships with SMEs, business leaders, HR, Commercial Enablement team, LMS administration, peers in other divisions. Mentor and develop team members, ensuring excellence in strategic training delivery and learner outcomes. Maintain an expert understanding of operations policies, SOPs and new technologies, internal business priorities and external industry trends, recommending strategic improvements. Stay current on internal business priorities and external adult learning techniques and trends; share with team members. Identify and recommend improvements or changes where needed. Analyze complex learning needs and ensure training solutions incorporate accessibility standards, appealing to multiple learning types, within the scalable training solutions. Provide input and feedback into the Commercial Enablement strategy Apply understanding of company’s strategic plan and understands how learning supports company goals in the classroom Serve as a training & development subject matter expert on various project teams Job shadow with employees to understand the role from their perspective to incorporate into learning materials. Provide work direction to junior level employees on projects and initiatives in collaboration/consultation with team leadership. Perform advanced administrative tasks and manage complex training logistics. Understand and utilize admin rights for Workday, Percipio, Navi Training, EDI Testing, Survey, The Source, and SharePoint. Demonstrate mastery of learning tools available to team. Tools include Canva, Adobe Premier Suites, and Articulate 360 Suites (Storyline, Rise 360 as examples). Research to understand tools that are externally available and provides recommendations of tools that would be beneficial for CHR to use, formulating a business case for ROI. Model The Robinson Way in all aspects of work and visibly lead and support change management including active involvement in communication, implementation, and reinforcement. Required Qualifications: 6+ years of experience in design, learning development, or training strategy, Experience leading the design and implementation of enterprise learning solutions that integrate modern enablement practices—including digital, data, and AI-driven learning—to strengthen commercial strategy and execution. Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level learning strategies that accelerate commercial performance, drive strategic selling capabilities, and align with business growth priorities. Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end learning projects, including needs analysis, design, development, facilitation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. Experience working closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to translate business goals into effective learning strategies. Ability to leverage data analytics and learning metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Strategic mindset with the ability to connect learning initiatives to business impact. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; proven ability to influence and collaborate across functions. Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, Marketing or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience performing C.H. Robinson operational, customer, or carrier facing work. Previous experience in a principal training or development role. 4+ years’ experience facilitating meetings, seminars or other classroom-like events in a corporate environment. 6+ years’ work experience in a corporate setting (business operations, logistics, etc.) Proven track record of leading large-scale training initiatives and projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable and capable giving direct feedback to others. Strong leadership and influence skills. Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite of programs and learning management systems. Ability to grow strong, sustainable, and productive relationships with relevant business partners. Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with the ability to drive organizational change. Compensation Range $71,800.00 - $149,200.00 The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
