As Director, Learning Design, you will play a central role in advancing the evolution of CFA Institute's curricula, championing approaches that connect learning to real-world practice across our portfolio of credentials, certificates, and emerging offerings. You will provide functional leadership to learning design, unify practice across products, and work closely with peers and senior leaders to embed learning design more effectively across the education portfolio. What You’ll Do Execute CFA Institute’s learning design strategy, translating learner-first and skills-based principles into practical, scalable design frameworks Support the adoption of skills-based learning through clear standards, proof points, and ways of working that can be applied consistently Provide day-to-day functional leadership to a globally distributed team of senior learning designers and contingent workers Bring together diverse design approaches across our credential and certificate curricula into a more cohesive, standardised practice Establish clear learning design roles and decision ownership while working in close partnership with Product, Learning Strategy, Content, Exams, IT, and Operations Embed learning design earlier in programme lifecycles, influencing scope, sequencing, and delivery decisions Build alignment, momentum, and shared accountability across a complex, collaborative stakeholder environment What We’re Looking For Significant experience leading learning design or instructional design within adult, professional, or higher education environments Background gained within edtech organisations, professional or financial services education providers, credentialing bodies, or digitally enabled higher or executive education settings Proven people leadership experience, including supporting and developing senior practitioners, desirable Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Education, or related field Demonstrated delivery of learner-first and skills-based learning approaches, with evidence of translating theory into operational practice Strong grounding in adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies Experience working with LMS platforms and learning analytics tools; Canvas experience is an advantage Demonstrated experience influencing outcomes and building alignment across diverse stakeholders in collaborative organisations Clear, confident communication skills and a collaborative, delivery-focused leadership style Why Join Us Opportunity to shape learning design practice across globally recognised education programmes A meaningful change-management role in the evolution of CFA Institute’s curricula design, connecting learning to real world practice across our portfolio Leadership of an experienced and engaged learning design team Close working relationships with peers across education, product, assessment, and technology The chance to contribute to the future of professional learning in the investment industry At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process. In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position: Expected salary range: US $130,000-$170,000 / UK £90,000-£110,000 per year. All salary ranges are subject to adjustment based on experience, education, location and other factors relevant to the position.
