About Centro de Servicios Established in 1974, Centro de Servicios is the oldest nonprofit, social service agency in Alameda County’s Tri-City Area. Centro leverages social services resources, community partners, volunteers, and donors to improve the quality of life for low-income families in the local area and neighboring cities. Primary Executive Director Function Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director of Centro de Servicios plans, directs, organizes, and oversees all programs, services, and operations of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for strengthening partnerships and stakeholder engagement, supervising staff, managing grant administration, leading fundraising efforts, and ensuring effective service to support the community through legal services, immigration support, food distribution, thrift store operations, and other nonprofit-related efforts. Essential Job Functions Program & Service Leadership • Execute and lead Centro de Servicios’ programs and services, including legal services, immigration support, food distribution, thrift store operations, and other community resource assistance. • Manage daily operations to ensure services are accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with Centro de Servicios’ mission. • Build and follow an annual work plan that aligns with organizational priorities and outlines plans for new or growing services. • Monitor data collection to evaluate impact and support grant and stakeholder reports. Staff Supervision • Supervise and support staff, including regular check-ins, coaching, and performance management. • Encourage staff development and accountability, including annual evaluations, goal setting, and professional growth planning. • Foster a teamwork culture by facilitating effective communication, holding regular staff meetings, and building collaboration between staff. • Address personnel concerns and conflicts by applying policies consistently and communicating fairly and discreetly. Community Outreach • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders to assess needs, strengthen services, improve referrals, and share resources. • Serve as Centro de Servicios’ primary spokesperson, representing the nonprofit in community meetings, events, and public settings. • Provide customer service through consistent engagement and visibility • Guide outreach and communication efforts, ensuring connection and transparency with the community Operations & Organization Systems • Manage administrative offices and thrift store systems and workflow • Strengthen internal systems and communication, including volunteer program effectiveness, documentation, technology, vendors, and continuous operational improvement. • Ensure facilities and operations meet safety standards and compliance requirements. Fundraising & Grants Development • Direct fundraising and resource development, including donors, events, sponsorships, and grant opportunities. • Coordinate grant strategy as needed, including identifying funding sources, developing proposals, and managing submissions to meet all deadlines. • Ensure timely, accurate grant reporting and deliverables, including coordinating internal tracking and documentation. Budget & Fiscal Responsibility • Develop, manage, and monitor Centro de Servicios budget, revenue, and expenses to support financial stability • Oversee financial reporting and systems, including regular financial statements and internal controls (such as daily cash counts and receipt reports). • Uphold compliance with any funder requirements by maintaining accurate documentation and have accountability systems in place. Other Duties • Serve as Board Liaison by maintaining regular communication, providing organizational updates, and preparing data-informed reports and presentations for the Board of Directors. • Participate in committees as chair or active member. • Perform related duties as assigned. Demonstrated Knowledge & Abilities • Nonprofit leadership • Strong written and verbal communication • Budgeting, fiscal processes, and internal controls • Fundraising and grant management • Community outreach and stakeholder engagement • Conflict resolution and customer service • Immigration and legal procedures • Public services available to community members • Technology proficiency (Outlook, Google Workspace) • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and organizational policies related to nonprofit operations and client services Ability To • Communicate effectively publicly and interpersonally in both oral and written manners • Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff, partners, and stakeholders • Analyze situations and implement comprehensive action plans • Manage multiple priorities while meeting schedules, deadlines, and goals • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information • Uphold personnel policies and ensure HR compliance • Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports • Step in across roles and responsibilities as needed • Develop and deliver presentations and trainings • Operate a computer and standard office equipment Minimum Qualifications • At least three (3) years of experience in a nonprofit or public service environment • At least six (6) years of leadership experience • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, including conflict resolution and performance support • Proven experience in fundraising and/or grant development • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and navigate change effectively • Strong commitment to community service Preferred Qualifications • Bilingual/multilingual (serving a diverse community) • Experience working with immigrant and/or underserved communities • Background in legal services or legal support settings Education Qualifications • Any combination of education, advanced coursework, training, and professional experience that demonstrates the knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the role will be considered.
