Stamping Optimization Manager – Automotive Manufacturing (Southeast Michigan) I’m seeking an experienced Tooling & Equipment Project Engineer to lead key equipment and process initiatives for a global automotive manufacturer in Southeast Michigan. This role combines strategic planning, equipment procurement, process engineering, and international project leadership with a strong emphasis on team development and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and mentor a small technical team, fostering growth in tooling and press expertise • Plan and purchase production and auxiliary equipment (automation, material feeding, furnaces) • Manage project budgets, schedules, and supplier coordination • Prepare RFQs, analyze supplier offers, and approve production methods and documentation • Supervise equipment manufacturing and oversee technical acceptance and installation • Collaborate with tooling, press, and procurement teams to standardize best practices • Design and optimize workstations to enhance quality and efficiency • Support new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives • Develop and implement corrective action plans when issues arise Experience & Qualifications: • 7+ years of experience in tooling, stamping, or related metal forming environments • Proven background in project management, process optimization, and equipment implementation • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience, and able to train and build team capabilities • Strong technical knowledge of die systems, automation, and process improvement methods (SMED, SPM, etc.) • Excellent communication and presentation skills If you’re a hands-on leader who thrives on driving process excellence and developing others, I’d love to connect. • 📩 DM me or comment below if you’re interested or know someone who might be a strong fit.
