Respond to and troubleshoot global support tickets related to Dell Avamar and PowerScale Isilon storage systems, monitor system health, escalate critical issues, and collaborate with vendors and clients.
Bachelor's degree, 5+ years NAS storage administration with Dell PowerScale Isilon, 5+ years NDMP backups with Dell Avamar, experience with Isilon and Avamar tools, Unix/Linux and Windows server knowledge, and ability to work 3rd shift.

A day in the life… • Respond to Global Support Center tickets in a timely manner • Troubleshoot and triage tickets in queue • Follow documentation and handling instructions • Know when to escalate critical issues • Speak clearly and confidently with clients and staff • Work well in stressful situations What we are looking for… • Minimum of a Bachelors' degree in a related field • Minimum of 5 years in NAS storage administration with Dell PowerScale Isilon . Other NAS storage technologies are a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of NDMP backups with Dell Avamar. Other NDMP & NAS backup technologies are a plus. • Familiarity with Dell PowerScale Isilon clusters, including InsightIQ reporting and SyncIQ replication • Familiarity with Dell Avamar Gen5a grids, including AUI and Avamar Administrator tools. • Experience conducting basic Isilon health checks for node status and hardware components. • Experience addressing Isilon alerts and verifying Isilon jobs. • Experience addressing Avamar alerts and resolving failed backup jobs. • Experience collecting Isilon & Avamar logs to drive SR's with Dell Support. • Ability to multi-task while maintaining high quality of deliverables • Experience working within Service Management toolsets a must • Monitor system health and performance • Performance troubleshooting and resolution • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time • Experience working with Windows servers and Unix/Linux • Experience using vi editor • Flexible, team player, "get-it-done” personality • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment Example of tasks to be performed… • Logging onto the AUI to verify backup jobs • Running the isi status command to verify node health • Monitoring customized SNMP alert dashboards • Facilitating vendor field techs' access to colo's to replace hardware • Troubleshoot database down issues • Escalate server down issues • Troubleshoot Linux/Unix/Windows resource issues • Monitor performance, provide resolution and/or articulate status to others Core Competencies… • Effective communication skills both internally and externally • Highly organized and detail oriented • Broad technology background • Efficiently break down problems and quickly identify the correct course of action • Passion for learning new technologies • Flexibility and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done • ITIL knowledge
