Senior IT Project Manager – Utility / Smart Grid (AMI 2.0 Program) Location: Rosemead, CA (Remote) Job Type: Full time Duration: 18 months Description We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead critical pre-planning and system integrator engagement activities for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0) initiative within the utility and smart grid sector. This role focuses on strategic project execution, resource planning, solution blueprinting, and vendor coordination in a complex enterprise IT environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large-scale IT program delivery, technical project management, and cross-functional leadership, with experience in smart grid or utility transformation projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead IT planning and coordination activities for AMI 2.0 implementation, ensuring alignment between business, technical, and vendor teams. • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project and resource plan including scope, roles, skillsets, effort, and cost estimates. • Facilitate business process mapping, requirements gathering, and technical blueprinting. • Support the creation of high-level solution designs defining scope, schedule, and budget from a technical perspective. • Oversee Planning and Analysis phases including design validation, technical feasibility assessments, and preparation for Build phase activities. • Coordinate environment readiness, testing strategy, and deployment rollout plans. • Collaborate with system integrators, vendors, and internal IT stakeholders to ensure effective solution delivery. • Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and key stakeholders. Required Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Proven experience managing large, complex IT programs or enterprise-level projects. • Strong understanding of IT project lifecycle management, solution blueprinting, and implementation planning. • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills. • Experience working with AMI, Smart Grid, or Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects. • Ability to bridge business needs with technical delivery and communicate effectively across diverse teams. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related discipline. • Experience in utility technology strategy, infrastructure modernization, or digital transformation initiatives. • Ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership. • Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, or management consulting.
