The Project Engineer utilizes engineering knowledge in the development of OEM custom products and services which include, but are not limited to, air pollution control systems and other air handling systems in municipal and industrial markets. This position conducts technical resource review, uses software to plan and design mechanical systems including 3D models and detail drafting, and collaborates with external and internal resources to develop custom air pollution control system drawings. This position requires a strong fundamental understanding of industrial air and water pollution control system design and related equipment and the ability to work across many different functional areas. Preference for experience in Evaporative Gas Conditioning, Scrubbers, and Scum Concentrators. Your Responsibilities Will Be: • Applies theory and principles of mechanical design to develop Air Handling components and systems. • Prepares General Arrangement drawings and detail drawings with a high level of efficiency and accuracy. • Maintains documentation (manuals, regulatory, design history file) for the new product development stage gate process. • Understands the Metal fabrication process, such as stamping, rolling, cutting, surface treatments, and welding. • Plans particle transport and separation for industrial applications (filtration, particle capture). • Utilizes knowledge of fans, dampers, platforms, cyclones, scrubbers, ducting, filtration, conveying equipment, scalpers, and related control systems. • Works with piping system design and Air Handling system designs. • Thinks innovatively with an ability to generate new concepts that differentiate within the market. • Utilizes excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Collaborates as a team player with a bias for action and driving projects to completion. • Brings a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and executing on time and to budget. • Commissioning and troubleshooting installed systems both mechanically and electrically. • Aptitude for hands-on design challenges and troubleshooting equipment. • Maintains technical competency and remains current in technology and changes in the industries the organization serves. • Training plant operations, maintenance and instrumentation staff to independently and confidently take ownership of supplied systems. • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. • 8+ years of design drafting experience is required. • Proficiency in the use of Inventor, SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is required. • Experience with Air and/or Water Pollution Control System design is required. • Experience and understanding of metal fabrication; stamping, rolling, cutting, surface treatments and welding preferred. • Applications experience; in the Steel or Aluminum industries preferred. • MS Office Suite is required. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with piping system design preferred. • Structural design experience is preferred. • Knowledge and understanding or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is a plus. Travel Requirements: • Incumbents are expected to travel as needed to support assigned business lines(s) and must have the ability to travel across borders. Total Travel amount is expected to be less than 30%. • Valid Driver’s License required. ADA Requirements: Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, moving equipment and other standard industrial conditions, and is required to wear to personal protective equipment (PPE). This position also has the ability to be remote, home-office setting. The role requires a dedicated workspace with reliable internet access and a quiet environment conducive to focused work. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to manage boundaries between work and personal life effectively. Minimal physical requirements, primarily computer use, and communication via virtual platforms, are necessary. Flexibility to adapt to occasional scheduled video meetings and collaborative tasks is essential. Physical Demands: Positions in this function typically require standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods. • Compliance with company attendance standards. • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
