Assist with food pantry management, provide case management and advocacy, and support families and individuals in crisis.
High school diploma with supervisory experience or a Bachelor's in social work/human services with relevant experience, valid driver's license, and physical ability to lift 50 pounds.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Area Office Administrator. This position is responsible for the food pantry, providing case management, and advocacy while working with families and individuals in need who seek out assistance and services through the Emergency Stabilization and Homeless Prevention (ES+HP) of Catholic Charities Worcester; completing intake and assessment and make appropriate referrals and/or provide services to families and individuals that are at risk in the community; and assuming the responsibilities and duties of the Area Administrator in his/her absence. This position requires physically organizing the food pantry, clothing donations, etc. Requirements: Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services or a related field with supervisory experience in case management, working with families and individuals in need; OR a high school diploma, or its educational equivalent, with at least three years of supervisory experience in the previously stated fields, and a solid understanding of case management and/or Social Work protocols and practices. Also required is a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation. Skills/Abilities: • Ability to understand and assess the needs of families and individuals in crisis and relate in a compassionate, caring, professional and dignified manner. • Ability to work with individuals and families who have different lifestyles, experiences, values, cultural norms and opinions. • Maintain personal boundaries, respects the boundaries of others and set limits where appropriate. Able to respect the client’s right to confidentiality, communicate information to colleagues only on a “need to know” basis, and able to use supervision to determine when information needs to be communicated to other staff. • Demonstrated ability to communicate with other professionals from other agencies and able to represent Catholic Charities and its clients in a professional manner. • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to read, write, speak Spanish or other language is a plus. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. • Demonstrated ability to make prudent judgements and to work independently and collaboratively. • Ability to be flexible, sensitive, supportive to the needs of others, reliable, and able to cope with emergencies. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills. Physical/Mental Requirements: • Normal range of vision and hearing, with or without correction. • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with or without assistance. • Manual dexterity and motor skills to grasp and lift objects. • Alert and able to work independently. • Walking and climbing are required for entry and mobility through the offices of Catholic Charities, which may have several levels of stairs. • Ability to deal effectively with emotionally demanding and stressful situations. Able to observe, process a lot of information, and be able to carry out and understand directions and instructions. • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job. • Must achieve a satisfactory rating during annual evaluation process.
