About This Opportunity We are seeking a Program Manager (Level II or SR), ESI Strategic Energy Management. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operational activity and planning for Energy Smart Industrial’s (ESI) Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program offerings. Primary functions include developing and executing ESI’s Annual SEM Delivery Plan, interfacing with the Bonneville Power Administration and its public utility customers, and directly supervising staff assigned to ESI’s SEM team. This role contributes to ESI’s energy savings targets and other program objectives by allocating resources to recruit industrial SEM participants, engage their leadership and energy teams, identify energy savings projects, and measure and report savings. The PM oversees and guides implementors to ensure effective program execution while continuously improving program’s core offerings. The PM manages long-range planning for onboarding and off ramping of participants and planning for new SEM cohorts within the program’s service territory. The PM will work in close collaboration with the Director of Operations to identify and implement growth plans. ESI’s SEM Program Manager is a player-coach role, with potential responsibilities for specifying energy models, utility and participant engagement, and report generation. The SEM Program Manager also facilitates ESI’s Energy Performance Tracking (EPT) team – a highly collaborative and cross-functional team with BPA representation that establishes and oversees SEM measurement and verification methodologies, and applications of those methodologies within ESI’s SEM projects. Manage the SEM elements of the ESI program contract including task definitions, alignment of deliverables to contract requirements, and budget oversight Manage client relationships through video meetings, emails, and other methods to foster a high level of engagement and alignment Foster positive relationships within the program delivery team. Build trust and quickly address issues to ensure high levels of satisfaction with utilities and end users Coordinate SEM project tracking and facilitate annual reporting of verified energy savings Track and forecast Technical Service Provider (TSP) budgets in collaboration with ESI’s TSP Manager and SEM Program Specialist. Provide regular status updates to the Director of Operations. Directly supervise program’s SEM staff which includes one Energy Performance Tracking (EPT) Engineer and one SEM Program Specialist Support the efforts of a cross-functional, multi-department SEM implementation team, including SEM Coaches, Technical Leads and Program Specialists Ensure that the broader delivery team is employing SEM outreach and implementing best practices Collaborate with the Director of Operations to identify opportunities for expansion of existing scopes of work or winning new work This is a full-time, exempt position, preferably located in Portland OR. We will consider someone close to a Cascade Energy office in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. Travel anticipated for this role is 10%. Qualifications Applicants for this role are required to have: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred, or Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or other related field of study. Senior PM: 8+ years of project management experience; and 4 years of experience in Strategic Energy Management SR PM: Track record of exceeding targets, launching new SEM programs, or recovering struggling programs PM Level II: 6+ years of project management experience; and 2 years of experience in Strategic Energy Management Experience in industrial settings and knowledge of equipment typically found in manufacturing facilities Compensation & Benefits Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits.
