This role serves as the primary business and people leader at the branch level, responsible for developing technicians, delivering consistent service to customers, and executing operational plans that drive profitable growth. The Operations Manager sets expectations, removes obstacles, and leads through influence and ownership, ensuring the branch operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with CIS standards and values. Essential Job Functions • Lead the branch with a solutions-focused mindset, setting clear expectations and driving consistent execution. • Own branch performance across safety, service delivery, people development, and financial results. • Serve as the primary leader for branch operations, modeling CIS Core Values and C10 behaviors. • Partner with the Regional General Manager to execute regional priorities and operational plans. • Lead a safety-first culture, ensuring safe work practices, proactive risk management, and accurate reporting. • Ensure compliance with CIS safety policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. • Reinforce Stop Work Authority and promote accountability for safe behaviors. • Lead, coach, and develop Service Technicians and branch staff to build capability, engagement, and accountability. • Conduct regular performance check-ins, goal setting, and development conversations. • Execute the Performance for Growth (P4G) process at the branch level. • Identify and develop future leaders within the branch. • Ensure reliable, high-quality service delivery, including preventive maintenance completion and timely response to customer needs. • Build strong relationships with customers to reinforce trust and long-term partnerships. • Collaborate with Sales on service agreements, growth opportunities, and customer solutions. • Oversee installation planning and service execution to ensure seamless customer experiences. • Manage branch financial performance, including Service Revenue, Net Income, and operating expenses. • Execute standard work, workflows, and the Carlton Operating System (COS) at the branch level. • Monitor KPIs and take corrective action to address performance gaps. • Oversee inventory management, billing accuracy, and administrative workflows. QualificationsQualifications & Leadership Expectations • Demonstrated experience leading teams in industrial service, manufacturing, or field operations environments. • Proven ability to lead people, drive accountability, and deliver results through others. • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within a regulated, safety-critical environment. • Strong communication skills with the ability to align technicians, customers, and cross-functional partners. • Solutions-oriented leader who takes ownership and models CIS Core Values. • Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement. Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, technical/trade school, or equivalent relevant experience preferred. • Leadership experience in industrial service, manufacturing, or field operations required. • Experience managing service teams, workflows, and customer-facing operations. • Financial literacy with the ability to interpret branch-level performance metrics. Physical & Functional Requirements These requirements reflect occasional hands-on support; primary responsibilities are leadership, oversight, and branch execution. • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 100 lbs., including handling 50 lb. test weights. • Push/pull carts or equipment up to 500 lbs. • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic equipment as needed. • Work in varied industrial environments, including confined spaces and extreme temperatures. • Read and interpret digital and analog meters and related test equipment. • Maintain a valid driver’s license; ability to travel overnight and work extended hours as needed. • Wear required PPE and proactively identify safety hazards.
