Location: Erin Mills area of Mississauga Reports to: Executive Director Employment Type: Part-Time Contract Hours: 8 to 12 hours per week Contract Term: January 2025 to June 2027 Compensation: Approximately $1,230 per month for the 18-month contract term. This includes all employer obligations such as CPP, EI, vacation pay, and applicable statutory contributions. No extended health benefits are included. Overview Care Masters is seeking a committed and community-focused Food Security Program Manager to support the coordination and delivery of our cooking workshops and food security initiatives funded through the Region of Peel Food Security Fund. This role involves program planning, on-site coordination, community outreach, record keeping, and supporting families, newcomer women, and youth in accessing culturally relevant, budget-conscious cooking programs. The successful candidate will be someone who is organized, compassionate, and able to work independently while representing Care Masters with warmth and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination and Implementation • Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and preparation of adult and youth cooking workshops. • Work closely with the Chef to ensure ingredients, supplies, and program spaces are prepared. • Manage participant registration, reminders, attendance tracking, and follow-up communication. • Provide on-site support during cooking sessions, including welcoming participants and helping facilitate smooth program operations. • Support any financial literacy components linked to the food programming. Emergency Food Supports and Community Care • Manage the disbursement of emergency food gift cards for families experiencing food insecurity. • Record and track all gift card distribution clearly and accurately. • Support relationship building with local donors and community partners who may contribute gift cards or food supports. • Assist in identifying future funding opportunities to sustain Care Masters’ food security initiatives beyond the current grant period. Community Outreach and Partnerships • Promote the food security programs to community partners, settlement agencies, shelters, schools, and faith-based organizations. • Strengthen referral pathways for newcomer women, single mothers, and families. • Support the development of outreach materials, including flyers and posts for social media. • Represent Care Masters in a professional and culturally sensitive manner within the community. Program Site Coordination • Attend all scheduled program sessions in the Erin Mills community. • Prepare and organize program materials, set up and clean up workshop spaces, and assist with logistical needs. • Transport small supplies and program materials as needed. • Reliable access to a vehicle is required for this role. Administration and Reporting • Maintain accurate records of participation, referrals, and program data. • Track program expenses, supplies, and receipts. • Assist with participant surveys and evaluation tools. • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and contribute to funder reporting requirements. Skills and Experience • Experience in community programming, food security work, outreach, or grassroots engagement. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. • Compassionate, culturally sensitive, and aligned with Care Masters’ mission. • Comfortable using email and Google Workspace. • Reliable access to a vehicle is required, due to the need to attend program sites and complete occasional shopping for workshop materials.
