Full Description

Purpose: The Senior Fund Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of CapRock’s investment fund financials. This role serves as a critical link between internal finance teams, third-party administrators, and external auditors to ensure compliance with GAAP and fund governing documents. The Senior Fund Accountant contributes to CapRock’s broader investment objectives by delivering timely, precise financial reporting and by supporting analytical insight that informs fund performance, liquidity management, and investor relations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Financial Operations and Accounting • Review capital call and distribution calculations, as well as related investor notices. • Review management fee calculations based on the terms of each Fund’s governing documents. • Assist with fund treasury management, including the opening of fund bank accounts, and oversight of account transfers and external wire payments. • Review of line of credit draws and paydown requests. • Oversight of monthly general ledger close process, and review of related supporting reconciliations and workpapers. • Ensure adherence to strict reporting deliverable deadlines. • Navigate complex governing documents and agreements (limited partnership agreements, JV agreements, etc.) to ensure adherence to contractual requirements and appropriate accounting. Financial Reporting • Assist in the preparation and issuance of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP for investment companies, as well as applicable fund performance reporting supplements. • Support annual financial statement audits. • Work directly with external auditors to facilitate their audit procedures. • Assist with ad-hoc investor and lender reporting requests. Tax Reporting • Support Tax Manager and external tax firm during the preparation of annual tax returns and investor K-1s. • Assist in various administrative and operational matters pertaining to fund subsidiaries structured as Real Estate Investment Trust (“REITs”), including preparation of quarterly REIT compliance testing. Financial Planning and Modeling • Preparation and maintenance of fund-level cash flow models used to forecast fund performance and assist in capital planning. • Assist with implementation of Fund expense budgeting practices and monitoring budget to actual results What do you need to succeed? • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred but not required. • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for complex fund-level reporting and analysis. • Demonstrated experience in public accounting or fund accounting roles with direct accountability for financial statements, investor reporting, and compliance with partnership agreements. • Practical knowledge of private equity fund operations and real estate investment structures. • Strong understanding of GAAP and investment company accounting standards (ASC 946). • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with demonstrated ability to analyze, model, and reconcile complex data sets. • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite for documentation, presentation, and reporting. • Experience using Yardi or other integrated accounting and financial reporting systems. • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills necessary to convey complex financial information clearly and accurately. Terms/Expected Hours of Work • 40 hours per week during standard business hours Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00. • CapRock values it employees and its culture.
