Then join us at Capital Department, a fundraising firm that helps startups raise capital from retail and institutional investors. Capital Department is on a mission to open access to capital for all; we’ve helped innovative startups raise $200M+ to date. As a Deal Strategist, you will work in close partnership with startup CEOs to raise capital for private market deals online. You will own the strategy, operations, and marketing for each deal, from creating investment narratives and decks to overseeing fundraising pipelines and funnels. Just as public companies raise money online from retail investors, you’ll make it easy for private companies to do the same! We’re looking for an accomplished professional with a track record of (1) either raising capital for startups or deploying capital to startups and (2) effectively managing internal and external stakeholders. As a major bonus, you’ll be joining an ambitious, inclusive, and engaging team that has worked with VC-backed technology companies and Fortune 500 companies. We’re graduates of Cornell, Oxford, and UCLA, and our work has been featured in Forbes, PBS, The New York Times, The Financial Times, and Fast Company. We’re experiencing explosive demand - come be part of our journey! 🚀 What will you be doing? Lead the strategy, operations, and deal performance of startup investment rounds raised online, in partnership with founders, their teams, and Capital Department: Strategy & Operations • Lead customer calls with CEOs/founders and their teams. • Manage strategic partnerships with investor networks, platforms, and tools, as applicable. • Leverage data-driven insights to oversee campaign performance analysis and reporting. • Create compelling and sticky investor narratives and write persuasive copy for investor assets. • Manage the creation of fundraising assets including investor decks, market research reports, press releases, media plans, pitches, webinar and video materials, and investor updates. • Lead deal team operations, from delivery to execution, and manage deliverables in Asana. • Own customer communications via email and Slack. • Develop and execute a multi-channel, integrated marketing plan to reach potential investors, which may include company customers, partners, personal networks, angel investors, funds, and more. • Own investor pipeline and investor funnel efficacy, tracking leads from qualification to conversion. • Implement scalable internal systems and tools to enhance fundraising outcomes. What are we looking for?: • 5-7 years of relevant experience raising capital for, or deploying capital to, startups. • Effective communicators who are clear, responsive, and diligent. • Strong writing skills. • Accomplished, curious, and creative operators who have a demonstrated ability to thrive at startups. • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects. • Desire to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Strong record of academic and/or professional or personal achievement. • Proficiency in Google Workspace including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Asana, Zoom, Slack, CRM tools, and email service providers (Klaviyo preferred). What experience would be an added bonus? • MBA, or other related degrees. • Experience as a founder is a plus! • Background in finance or the financial sector. • Storytelling and experience writing marketing communications. Why is this a great opportunity? • Collaborate with visionary CEOs backed by the biggest funds in the world. • Help give innovative startups building groundbreaking products the chance to succeed. • Develop a strong personal brand in the startup and investment landscape. We welcome applications from individuals in all academic disciplines and from all backgrounds.
