Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will manage and oversee customs compliance activities to ensure adherence to U.S. and international trade regulations. - You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate smooth customs clearance and timely delivery of goods. - You will conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions. - You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade laws, tariffs, and regulatory changes affecting the business. - You will prepare and submit required documentation for customs declarations and trade compliance reporting. - You will provide training and support to staff on customs procedures and compliance best practices. - You will assist in developing and improving customs and trade compliance policies and procedures. - You will support investigations related to customs issues and work with regulatory agencies as needed. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs compliance, trade regulations, or logistics. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs laws, import/export regulations, and international trade agreements. - You have experience with customs brokerage, classification, and tariff schedules. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external agencies. - You are proficient in using compliance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in the technology or electronics industry. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Familiarity with global trade compliance software and ERP systems. - Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or Mandarin.
