Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs documentation and classification requirements. - You will collaborate with logistics partners to facilitate smooth import/export operations. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. - You will stay updated on changes in trade laws and regulations to inform company policies. - You will support the development and implementation of customs compliance training programs. - You will assist in managing relationships with customs brokers and government agencies. - You will prepare reports and maintain accurate records related to trade compliance activities. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs compliance or international trade. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations and global trade compliance standards. - You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You demonstrate effective communication skills to work cross-functionally. - You are proficient in using compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in the technology or electronics industry. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Familiarity with global trade agreements and Free Trade Zones. - Experience with audit processes and regulatory inspections.
