Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements. - You will manage import/export compliance audits and respond to regulatory inquiries. - You will collaborate with logistics, legal, and procurement teams to develop and implement trade compliance policies. - You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in trade laws and regulations. - You will support the resolution of customs-related issues to avoid delays and penalties. - You will assist in training employees on customs and trade compliance best practices. - You will prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs compliance, trade regulations, or logistics. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs laws, import/export regulations, and international trade agreements. - You have experience with customs classification systems such as HTS and ECCN. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments. - You are detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in a multinational corporation or in the technology sector. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Familiarity with trade compliance software and ERP systems. - Knowledge of global trade compliance beyond U.S. regulations.
