Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor at Canon U.S.A., Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring that all import and export activities comply with U.S. customs regulations and international trade laws. You will support the supply chain and logistics teams by providing expert guidance on trade compliance, helping to mitigate risks and optimize operational efficiency. What You'll Do: - You will manage and oversee customs compliance processes to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations. - You will conduct regular audits and assessments of trade activities to identify and resolve compliance issues. - You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate smooth customs clearance and timely shipments. - You will provide training and support to staff on customs regulations and trade compliance best practices. - You will monitor changes in trade laws and regulations and update company policies accordingly. - You will prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory agencies. - You will assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize customs duties and reduce costs. - You will serve as a key point of contact for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies. What You Bring: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs compliance, trade compliance, or related logistics roles. - Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade compliance. - Experience with customs brokerage and trade compliance software systems. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) certification. - Experience working in a multinational corporation or in the technology sector. - Familiarity with global trade agreements and tariff classification. - Proficiency in additional languages relevant to international trade.
