Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs documentation and classification requirements. - You will collaborate with logistics partners to facilitate smooth customs clearance. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions. - You will stay updated on changes in trade laws and regulations to inform company policies. - You will support the development and implementation of trade compliance training programs. - You will assist in managing import/export licenses and permits. - You will work cross-functionally with legal, supply chain, and finance teams to support compliance initiatives. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance within a corporate or logistics environment. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements. - You have experience with customs brokerage and classification of goods. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively advise and train internal stakeholders. - You are proficient in using compliance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in the technology or electronics industry. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Familiarity with global trade compliance software and ERP systems. - Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or Mandarin.
