Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements. - You will collaborate with logistics partners and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. - You will stay updated on changes in trade laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. - You will support the development and implementation of customs compliance policies and procedures. - You will assist in training employees on customs and trade compliance best practices. - You will manage record-keeping and reporting related to customs activities. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs compliance, trade regulations, or logistics. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs laws, import/export regulations, and international trade agreements. - You have experience working with customs brokers and government agencies. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively advise and collaborate with cross-functional teams. - You are detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple compliance projects simultaneously. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with global trade management software and ERP systems. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and tariff classification. - Previous experience in the technology or electronics industry.
