Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements. - You will manage import/export compliance audits and respond to regulatory inquiries. - You will collaborate with logistics, legal, and procurement teams to develop and implement trade compliance policies. - You will analyze trade data to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions. - You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in trade laws and regulations. - You will support training initiatives to educate employees on customs and trade compliance. - You will assist in the preparation and submission of customs declarations and related documentation. What You Bring: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance within a corporate or consulting environment. - Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements. - Experience with customs classification systems such as HTS and ECCN. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Effective communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and external agencies. - Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Experience working in the technology or electronics industry. - Familiarity with global trade compliance frameworks and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). - Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or Mandarin.
