Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance to mitigate risks and support efficient global trade activities. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. and international customs laws and trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on import/export requirements and documentation. - You will collaborate with logistics partners and government agencies to resolve compliance issues. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify and mitigate trade compliance risks. - You will develop and implement policies and procedures related to customs and trade compliance. - You will stay updated on changes in trade laws and regulations and communicate impacts to stakeholders. - You will support training initiatives to enhance compliance awareness across the organization. - You will assist in managing customs-related inquiries and investigations. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance within a corporate or logistics environment. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade compliance. - You have experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively advise and collaborate with cross-functional teams. - You are detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with global trade management software and compliance tools. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and tariff classification. - Experience in the technology or electronics industry.
