Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements. - You will manage import/export compliance audits and respond to regulatory inquiries. - You will collaborate with logistics, legal, and procurement teams to develop and implement trade compliance policies. - You will analyze trade data to identify potential compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. - You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in trade laws and regulations. - You will support training initiatives to educate employees on customs and trade compliance best practices. - You will assist in the preparation and submission of customs declarations and related documentation. What You Bring: - You bring at least 5 years of experience in customs and trade compliance within a multinational corporation. - You have strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements. - You possess excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. - You have experience working with customs brokers and government agencies. - You demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across departments. - You are proficient in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with SAP GTS or other global trade management systems. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and their application. - Experience in the technology or electronics industry.
