Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance to mitigate risks and support efficient logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on import/export requirements and documentation. - You will collaborate with customs brokers and government agencies to resolve compliance issues. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify potential trade compliance risks. - You will develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance trade compliance. - You will stay updated on changes in trade laws and regulations affecting the company. - You will support training initiatives to educate employees on customs and trade compliance. - You will assist in managing trade compliance records and reporting requirements. What You Bring: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance or related logistics roles. - Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade compliance. - Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams. - Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Bonus Points If You Have: - Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) certification. - Experience in the technology or electronics industry. - Familiarity with global trade agreements and tariff classification. - Experience with SAP or other ERP systems related to supply chain management.
