Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to manage compliance risks and facilitate smooth international trade processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and interpret customs regulations and trade laws to ensure company compliance. - You will coordinate with logistics, legal, and procurement teams to implement trade compliance strategies. - You will manage import/export documentation and ensure accuracy and completeness. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions. - You will liaise with customs brokers and government agencies to resolve compliance issues. - You will provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on customs and trade compliance matters. - You will support the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures. - You will analyze trade data to identify trends and potential risks. What You Bring: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance or related logistics roles. - Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade compliance. - Experience with customs brokerage and trade compliance software systems. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively across teams. - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Experience working in a multinational corporation or in the technology sector. - Familiarity with global trade agreements and tariff classification. - Proficiency in additional languages relevant to trade regions.
