Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance to support the company’s global logistics and trade compliance strategies. What You'll Do: - You will manage and oversee customs compliance activities to ensure adherence to U.S. and international trade laws. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including logistics, legal, and procurement to implement trade compliance programs. - You will conduct audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance issues. - You will prepare and submit required documentation for customs clearance and regulatory filings. - You will monitor changes in trade regulations and advise the company on necessary adjustments. - You will support training initiatives to educate employees on customs and trade compliance requirements. - You will liaise with government agencies and external partners to resolve compliance-related inquiries. What You Bring: - Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance within a corporate or consulting environment. - Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and international trade agreements. - Experience with customs brokerage, classification, valuation, and tariff schedules. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams. Bonus Points If You Have: - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Experience working in the technology or electronics industry. - Familiarity with global trade management software and ERP systems. - Multilingual abilities or experience working in a multinational environment.
