Role Overview: As a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor based in Melville, NY, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Canon's supply chain operations comply with all applicable customs and trade regulations. You will provide expert guidance on import/export compliance, helping to mitigate risks and streamline logistics processes. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and international trade regulations. - You will advise internal teams on customs classification, valuation, and documentation requirements. - You will collaborate with logistics, legal, and procurement departments to support trade compliance initiatives. - You will conduct audits and assessments to identify and address compliance risks. - You will manage relationships with customs brokers and government agencies. - You will develop and deliver training programs on customs and trade compliance. - You will stay current with changes in trade laws and regulations to proactively update company policies. - You will support the resolution of customs-related issues and disputes. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in customs compliance or international trade. - You possess strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade agreements. - You have experience working with customs brokers and government agencies. - You demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have strong communication skills to effectively advise and train cross-functional teams. - You are detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with global trade management software. - Certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES). - Knowledge of international trade compliance beyond the U.S., including EU and Asia-Pacific regions. - Experience in the technology or electronics industry.
