We’re looking for a Communications Manager for Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), a business entity within CannonDesign, a multifaceted design solutions firm. You’ll plan and execute marketing campaigns promote FOS products and services externally as well as across the firm. As part of your marketing and communications expertise, you’ll exhibit strategic and creative thinking that elevates the visibility of FOS in the marketplace and contributes to achieving its goals for business growth. You’ll work with cross-functional teams within FOS and across CannonDesign—and very closely with the Head of Marketing & Sales and CannonDesign’s Communications Director. In addition to being a key member of our FOS team, you’ll also be part of Brand, Marketing and Business Development (BMBD), a diverse and talented team of marketers, communicators, business developers, researchers, digital experts, strategists and graphic designers — offering ongoing connectivity to myriad resources, plus opportunities to collaborate with like-minded professionals for the benefit of FOS. As part of your application, we require 2-3 samples of recent work that demonstrate the skills and talents necessary for this role. These can include writing samples, collateral or other deliverables KEY COMPETENCIES Storyteller. Strong writing skills and design sensibilities that lead to impactful narratives about our vision, our people, our products and our projects. Excellent communicator. Verbal and written communication skills that are pointed and persuasive for internal and external audiences who need to understand our value proposition. Able to prioritize, organize and project manage. Keeps close watch over timetables, plans and moving parts, understanding what to prioritize, how to pivot when plans change, and drive people and projects forward. Problem-solver. Can get “unstuck” independently — brings solutions to the table that create minimal disruption, clear paths forward and potentially improve outcomes. Strategic and creative thinker. Can see the big picture and understand the longer-term implications of actions. Able to leverage insights and develop innovative ideas that guide and create compelling content. Manages up. Comfortable working with senior-level professionals inside the team, across the firm and externally to create consensus, influence decision-making and drive initiatives forward. HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO Strategic Communications & Branding Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies aligned with organizational goals. Ensure consistent brand voice, style, and messaging across all platforms. Manage storytelling initiatives to strengthen brand identity and reputation. In all cases, work closely with the Head of Sales & Marketing for FOS and CannonDesign’s Communications Director to develop thought-provoking, compelling content. Content Development & Media Relations Draft, edit, and oversee production of press releases, newsletters, blog posts, speeches, and social media content. Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers. Coordinate media inquiries, press events, and speaking engagements for leadership. Digital assets and tools oversight Manage and optimize website content, email marketing campaigns, and social media channels. Leverage analytics to track engagement, measure campaign success, and refine digital strategies. Stay up to date with emerging communication technologies and trends. Other marketing activities Plan and manage our marketing/communications budget, ensuring effective allocation of funds to drive impactful campaigns and initiatives. Partner with FOS leadership and our Sr. Communications Specialist to plan and execute advertising and leverage data and analytics to help maximize ROI. Oversee conference event planning, coordination, stakeholder management, on-site execution and post-event evaluation, reporting and activation, with support from FOS marketing to develop creative assets and deliverables. Provide writing and editing support for marketing pursuits and other promotional marketing needs. Communications leadership and collaboration Develop communication strategies that strengthen employee engagement and organizational culture. Partner with HR and leadership to disseminate internal announcements and initiatives. Support change management communications. Crisis & Issues Management Prepare proactive communication strategies for potential issues. Draft and deliver timely responses during sensitive or high-profile situations. HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED Minimum Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, PR or marketing required Minimum 6+ years’ related experience is required Prior management experience required. Experience working with a hybrid, geographically dispersed team Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with HubSpot, CRM software (Salesforce), Google Analytics and Adobe Creative Suite preferred Experience with SEO, SEM and digital paid efforts preferred Inbound Marketing (Hubspot Academy) and Google Analytics Certification preferred Related industry experience (software, software for AEC industry) a plus Some travel required What you'll love about us: Competitive benefits package, including a generous paid time off policy Flexible work schedules! This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
