Full Description

Intern, Government Affairs (Canada) This is a full-time summer internship that takes place from May 11, 2026 to August 28, 2026. Job Summary The Intern, Government Affairs works closely with the Canadian Government Affairs team to support the organization's government relations activities and related federal stakeholder engagement. This internship provides a hands-on introduction to federal public affairs and policy engagement within Canada's largest transportation network. The intern will contribute to active policy files, stakeholder engagement, and government correspondence while gaining direct exposure to parliamentary processes and corporate advocacy strategies. Major Responsibilities • Participate in the writing, editing and distribution of briefing materials to promote the organization's initiatives • Conduct research on industry trends, public policy, and related issues as well as contribute to stakeholder analyses • Monitor parliamentary proceedings, committees and legislative agendas • Monitor relevant government and stakeholder media events and provide synopses • Assist in the preparation of stakeholder correspondence and communications • Participate in lobbying activities by providing administrative support, preparing briefing documents and helping to coordinate meetings with decision-makers • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments and help inform the government affairs team on potential implications • Assist in the preparation of internal briefing documents • Provide event and engagement logistics support. Requirements • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team • Knowledge of parliamentary procedures and political systems • Interest in transportation and federally regulated industries issues • Proficiency in office automation tools, media monitoring and social media platforms Education • Working towards a bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Affairs, International Relations, or related field.
