NOTICE OF VACANCY GRANT-FUNDED POSITION POSITION: Head Start Data & Communications Specialist LOCATION: Plum Point Elementary School JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for performing administrative and data management assignments to facilitate effective operation of the Calvert County Public Schools Head Start program. Using the Child Plus Data Management system, this individual will be responsible for updating and maintaining data in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, policies and procedures. This position also serves as the strategic communications specialist for the program, engaging the public to build their understanding of and confidence in the grant program. Directs internal and external communication and media relations as well as supports Coordinator with all publications. REPORTS TO: Head Start Program Coordinator and CCPS Grant Manager QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of application, the candidate must have/be: High School Diploma Business education or evidence of completion of trainings preferred Four years office work Experience in Head Start office and knowledge of Head Start procedures preferred. Certified Child Plus operator or become certified within one year of hire Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills in the use of computer programs and software, with the ability to prepare and edit documents Ability to maintain paper and electronic records and files Demonstrate interpersonal skills and knowledge of office protocol Knowledge of basic bookkeeping Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office equipment and machines Such alternatives to the above qualifications as CCPS and Head Start may find appropriate and acceptable DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for monitoring, training and ensuring compliance utilizing the Child Plus Data system Supports classrooms with training. Training staff on data input, reporting and analysis of data Maintain Head Start student applications, eligibility, and enrollment Enters all data related to the following data systems: Program Information Management System (PIMS), Efforts to Outcome (ETO), Brigance Screening Tool, Child Plus data system, Work Sampling Assessment System, Ages and Stages and Social Emotional Tool. Compile data and prepare reports and information as needed by the Program Coordinator, Health Specialist, and/or Education Specialist. Disseminates messages to staff, parents, students, and community members using electronic notification systems. Plans, creates, and coordinates multi-pronged communication campaigns and programs that communicate the vision and educational goals of Head Start CCPS. Develops official and verified CCPS social media and online presence. Creates documents, public release information, presentations, videos, and other communications for Head Start. Ensures information disseminated to the public is accurate, timely, and reflects the mission, vision and core principles of Head Start. Collaborates with the CCPS webmaster on branding and content displayed on the CCPS website. Serves as a liaison and coordinates communication between the Board of Education and any local or state government communications departments as directed by the HS Coordinator. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position. UNUSUAL DEMANDS: Flexible hours to include evening, night, and weekend events and presentations. Expected to attend Head Start functions.
