Calista Corporation Regular JOB SUMMARY: The Benefits Analyst position will provide technical and analytical support to the Benefits Department in the delivery and accounting of company-sponsored retirement plans including 401(k) and Roth 401(k) plans, while ensuring benefits compliance with accordance with plan documents, Unions, Service Contracts, ACA, IRS, ERISA and DOL regulations. This position will have oversight of and responsibility to support the Company’s benefits accounting functions of auditing, funding and reconciling enrollments, premiums/deductions, deferral changes and monitoring eligibility, and contribution limits. This is a remote position. Work hours are based on Alaska Standard Time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Audit and reconcile plan enrollment and termination data. Audit and reconcile deductions and contributions in CostPoint. Audit and reconcile BEFs submitted to payroll. Audit and reconcile payroll contributions against recordkeepers reports. Prepare and/or audit check requests to be submitted to Accounts Payable for detail accuracy per A/P processes, including: Benefit vendor payment; Benefit claims payment; Union payments: pension, dues, H&W; Other necessary benefit-related payments. Audit and reconcile FSA/HSA deductions to vendor upload files; oversee uploads are transmitted to vendor. Work closely with GL Benefit Accountants and assists GL benefit reconciliations. Develop and maintain workflows on processes and procedures for benefits HRIS. Serve as Benefits Department POC/liaison with Finance Department regarding benefit related issues and pension audits. Assist with employee enrollments, open enrollment, and benefit orientations. Provide backup to other Benefit Department staff members. Provide assistance to update and maintain benefit records and other documents in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Assist with annual 401(k) audits. Assist with annual census and compliance testing. Assist with employer True-Ups. Assist with corrective actions related to failed testing’s, excess contributions, or operational errors. Attend Trustee Meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes. Provide ongoing customer services with employees, vendors, recordkeeper and Union/SCA representatives. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as directed. SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: This position has no supervisory functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: General knowledge of employee benefit and insurance plans, best practices, and state and federal compliance and the ability to learn and understand the Company’s benefits and employer sponsored 401k plans. Knowledge of basic accounting and GL principles and practices. General understanding of benefit deductions/deduction set-up. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and confidentially process and maintain data with accuracy with minimal oversight. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel capabilities and the ability to learn additional software programs. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information to others as well as to present information in front of a group. Ability to process a high volume of data with accuracy and meet various deadlines. Ability to perform work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to enter data accurately into databases. Ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in-group problem solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Active listening skills: attentiveness when listening to others to understand and ask appropriate questions. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas. Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school required in accounting- or Business-related discipline required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience administering Company-sponsored retirement and pension plans, representing employers with 2500+ headcount. Minimum of five years’ experience working with multi-business lines, union collective bargaining agreements, Service Contract Act (SCA) strongly preferred. Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Certification or PHR preferred. Deltek Costpoint, WorkDay and HRIS system experience preferred. Ability to pass drug, credit, and background screening.
