Position: Manager, People Experience Location: Remote within California FLSA: Full Time, Non-Exempt Description of Job: The Manager, People Experience plays a critical role in supporting the People & Culture function and ensuring a smooth, equitable, and positive employee experience across the organization. Overview of Responsibilities Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture, the Manager, People Experience provides administrative, operational, and logistical support across key human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, HR operations, compliance, internal communications, and staff events. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, committed to equity and inclusion, and excited to support employees and supervisors throughout the employee lifecycle. Essential Duties: Recruiting and Hiring • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment logistics, including job postings, interview scheduling, communications, and candidate tracking. • Maintain applicant tracking systems and ensure accurate, timely documentation. • Support hiring managers and the VP with scheduling and candidate communications that upheld inclusive hiring practices. • Assist with employer branding initiatives such as job board updates and recruitment materials. Onboarding and Offboarding • Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including welcome communications, scheduling HR related onboarding sessions, preparing materials, and supporting operations workflows. • Ensure that new hires have a welcoming, organized, and inclusive entry experience. • Support offboarding logistics including exit interviews and documentation. Employee Experience and Engagement Support • Assist in coordination of employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs, well-being activities, and culture-building events. • Help compile staff feedback and engagement survey data; support action planning processes. • Serve as an approachable, trusted point of contact for employee questions about HR processes, policies, or resources, escalating issues to the VP as appropriate. HR Operations, Policy and Compliance Support • Maintain accurate personnel files, HR records, and documentation in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements. • Support data entry and reporting in HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality. • Assist in disseminating, organizing, and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and compliance materials. • Support the VP in ensuring consistent, equitable application of HR policies. • Process routine HR transactions (e.g., status changes, updates, certifications) in partnership with the VP. • Help track required trainings, certifications, and compliance deadlines. Internal Communications • Support development and distribution of internal communications, newsletters, announcements, and employee resources. • Assist with planning and logistics for staff retreats, team-building events, all-staff meetings, and virtual gatherings, including hosting the all-staff calls. • Coordinate scheduling, materials, logistics, and vendor support for events as needed. Other Responsibilities • Partner with Operations, IT, Legal, and other departments to ensure smooth processes across the employee lifecycle. • Provide general administrative support to the VP, People & Culture. • Provides support as appropriate to CCSA Advocates—CCSA’s tandem 501(c)4 organization—with campaign efforts at the local and state level. • Supports CCSA sponsored events and activities as needed, including CCSA Annual Charter Schools Conference, which requires overnight travel, and other external-facing activities, as needed. What Success Looks Like: The Manager, People Experience will ensure recruitment, onboarding, and core HR operations run smoothly, accurately, and consistently. Employees and candidates receive timely, clear, and supportive communication that reflects a high standard of professionalism and care. The Manager ensures personnel data, HR files, and systems are well organized, accurate, and compliant, providing a strong foundation for effective people operations. They coordinate staff events, engagement initiatives, and internal communications with exceptional attention to detail. Through proactive and reliable operational support, the Manager, People Experience enables the VP and People & Culture team to focus on strategic priorities, while also contributing meaningfully to a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable organizational culture. Required Capabilities • Minimum 1 year of experience in human resources, operations, recruitment, or related fields (internships and part-time roles welcomed) • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. • Ability to travel and overnight stays: this position requires occasional travel (up to 10% of the time) including overnight stays for staff retreats, conferences, and team meetings. Preferred Capabilities • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field preferred. • Human Resources certification (PHR/SHRM) preferred Supervisory Responsibility This role does not supervise staff but plays a key role in supporting supervisors, employees, and the Vice President of People and Culture. Benefits and Salary This is a non-exempt position. Compensation range for this position is $30.00 - $32.24 hourly. Selected candidates will be offered a starting salary based on years of aligned experience and any specialized training or certifications (if preferred for the position).
