Sr Software Developer Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% Type of Travel: Outside Continental US * * * The Opportunity As a Sr Software Developer for Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC), you will work with SRF-JRMC to build high-reliability business applications within DoD cloud environments. Your advanced skills in developing containerized, cloud-ready systems in a DevSecOps environment will directly impact the successful migration of legacy SRF-JRMC mission applications. You will work remotely with other Sr Software Developers and occasionally travel to SRF-JRMC Yokosuka when required. The duration of the position will be 12 months with possibility of extension. Responsibilities: Reverse engineer legacy web applications into functional and technical requirements. Design and build reliable, containerized, cloud-ready web applications from development backlog in a DoD DevSecOps environment with minimal supervision. Design and build engaging, responsive user interfaces (UI) with modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React. Design and build application programming interfaces (APIs) for systems integration following best practices for data throughput and security. Support DevSecOps deployment pipeline and cloud systems engineering. Develop software integrations with other databases and various data sources used by the command and U.S. Navy, such as M365 SharePoint Online and Dataverse. Meet with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, mitigate roadblocks, and provide status reports. Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Interim Secret security clearance and subsequent final DoD Secret security clearance. Minimum 4 years of continuous experience in an active, professional software development role demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following: • Building and deploying applications in either Microsoft Azure or AWS clouds. • Building UI components with React or similar JavaScript framework. • Building automated deployment pipelines using Python. • Building APIs using either Node.JS or Python-based frameworks. Work is remote, with up to 25% travel to Yokosuka, Japan. Desired: Active DoD Secret security clearance. Previous experience in a DoD DevSecOps environment. Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or other related technical fields.
