Software Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 Job Category: Intern/Co-op Time Type: Part time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: None Employee Type: Part-Time On-Call Percentage of Travel Required: None Type of Travel: None * * * The Opportunity: Join our innovative team developing cutting-edge Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) products that protect national security systems and classified data. As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working with NSA-approved commercial technologies that implement layered cybersecurity solutions for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and federal agencies. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical secure communications systems while developing your skills in cybersecurity, network security, encryption technologies, and software development in a classified environment. The internship will begin in May and last 12 weeks. It offers a hybrid schedule, with equal time spent on-site and working remotely. Responsibilities: Assist in the design, development, and testing of software components for CSfC-compliant products and solutions Support integration efforts of commercial security components that meet NSA CSfC capability package requirements Participate in code reviews and collaborate with senior engineers on implementing layered encryption architectures Help develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure product security and functionality Contribute to documentation of software designs, APIs, and security architectures Assist in troubleshooting and debugging security-focused software applications Support DevSecOps processes including CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure automation Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for product improvements and security enhancements Work with cross-functional teams including security engineers, system architects, and quality assurance Qualifications: Required: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Software, Engineering, Cybersecurity or related technical field Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance Strong programming skills in at least one of: Java, Python, C++, or C, Rust or other compiled language Understanding of fundamental software development concepts including data structures and algorithms Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, protocols, VPN, Firewall) Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Desired: Previous internship or project experience in software development Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and encryption technologies Knowledge of quantum cryptographic systems and algorithms Experience with version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab) Understanding of network security concepts (VPNs, firewalls, secure communications) Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD tools Coursework or projects related to information security or cryptography Experience with virtualization technologies (Docker, VMware, etc.) Knowledge of secure coding practices and security testing Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) - ________________________________________________________________________________________ What You Can Expect: A culture of integrity.
