Job Title: Public Affairs Specialist Job Category: Communications Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI with Polygraph Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: You will support the Public Affairs team for a mission-focused U.S. Government Intelligence Community customer, serving as a primary feature writer and strategic communicator responsible for producing high-quality, articles and storytelling products. This role requires translating complex, technical, and often classified-adjacent topics into clear, engaging narratives for a diverse internal workforce and senior leadership audience. Your work will directly enhance workforce awareness, mission transparency (as appropriate), and organizational engagement by delivering polished, publication-ready content aligned with strict editorial standards, IC style guidance, and leadership messaging priorities. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and communications professional with deep experience in Public Affairs, internal communications, and strategic messaging within high-tempo, sensitive environments. Responsibilities: Draft and publish weekly featured articles and mission stories, often on technical or operational topics, in collaboration with subject matter experts and program leadership Translate complex intelligence, technology, and mission-related information into clear, accurate, and engaging content for broad internal audiences Maintain and enforce editorial and organizational style standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all publications Develop and execute strategic communication plans and associated content, including articles, newsletters, blogs, web content, social media posts, and multimedia messaging Provide end-to-end internal communications support to promote workforce engagement, transparency, and cross-organizational information sharing Draft executive communications, including speeches, talking points, leadership messages, and key strategic narratives Support internal blogs, newsletters, websites, and digital publications, ensuring timely and mission-aligned content delivery Partner with designers and multimedia teams to produce visually compelling graphics, layouts, and digital storytelling products Coordinate and facilitate internal communications working groups to ensure messaging alignment across directorates and stakeholder offices Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leadership on messaging, outreach, and engagement approaches Support internal and external outreach initiatives, event communications, and campaign messaging as required Conduct communications assessments, audience analysis, and market research to evaluate effectiveness and refine messaging strategies Assist with rapid-turn, high-visibility communication taskings in a dynamic, high-pressure IC environment Qualifications: Required: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph (required) Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience Demonstrated experience supporting Intelligence Community or U.S. Government communications or public affairs programs Proven track record of high-volume article writing, editing, and editorial production under tight deadlines Strong ability to simplify complex, technical, or mission-sensitive topics into accessible content for diverse audiences Experience managing multiple concurrent taskings in a fast-paced, high-tempo environment with short-notice requirements Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills Desired: Prior experience as a journalist, editor, or managing editor Experience drafting communications for senior executives or mission leadership Familiarity with IC communications platforms (SharePoint, internal publications, classified content workflows) Experience with multimedia storytelling, digital content, and visual communications tools - What You Can Expect: A culture of integrity. Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
