Job Title: Current State Operating Model (CSOM) Analyst Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: None Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: None Type of Travel: None * * * The Opportunity: The CSOM analyst is responsible for analyzing and testing legacy system data that feeds Power BI visualizations. The data driven CSOM will be used to define the current state operating model within the Veterans Affairs (VA) system. This role ensures that the data driven CSOM aligns with VA goals, enhances operational efficiency, and supports the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to veterans. Responsibilities Assessment and Documentation: Conduct thorough assessments of the legacy system data and systems across VA facilities. Document legacy data elements that will be used to drive the CSOM data driven approach. Map current state model to future state, where possible, to provide predictive tools that can suggest future state user configuration. Testing: Test data visualizations that will be used to define the current state operating model. Gap Analysis: Identify gaps between the current state and desired future state operating models. Provide recommendations for improvement. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with VA FMBT and FSC staff to define and review the CSOM. If needed, collaborate with internal departments (e.g., healthcare services, IT) and external partners to gather insights and feedback on the current state operating model. Process Optimization: Develop strategies and initiatives to optimize current processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance performance. Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing initiatives for process enhancement, cost reduction, and quality improvement. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Science, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in data visualization and testing. Experience within the healthcare or public sector, preferably with the VA or similar organizations. Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, SQL, etc. Familiar with iFCAP, FMS, or related VA financial systems Ability to interpret financial, operational, or system data In-depth knowledge of data analytic tools with experience designing, analyzing, and testing Power BI dashboards and visualizations. Desired: Power BI familiarity is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of change management principles.
