We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our team! The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the Engineering team, to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; as well as overseeing the end-to-end software development lifecycle, driving technical excellence, innovation, and scalability across projects. What You’ll Do: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop scalable, secure, and user-centric software solutions for construction finance loan origination and servicing. Define and execute the technology roadmap to align with and achieve business objectives. Active participation in solution design and code reviews. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to align on strategic goals. Oversee the development and optimization of software solutions supporting underwriting, disbursement tracking, draw requests, and project performance analytics. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Advocate for modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development. Identify and integrate emerging technologies to maintain competitive, forward-looking systems. Leverage deep knowledge of construction finance workflows, addressing challenges such as lien waivers, cost monitoring, and contractor management. Design solutions tailored to the unique requirements of the construction finance sector, including compliance and risk assessment. Partner with product, operations, and compliance teams to gather requirements and deliver strategic priorities. Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications, ensuring alignment throughout the development lifecycle. Establish and track KPIs to measure team performance, system reliability, and user satisfaction. Provide regular updates and technical insights to executive leadership and stakeholders. 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, with 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role. Highly technical and results-driven professional with extensive experience architecting and delivering scalable web applications and enterprise-grade systems. Expert in full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development, with deep proficiency in Node.js, modern frontend frameworks such as React and Angular, and relational database design using SQL Server. Proven experience leading the design and development of scalable, secure, and user-focused software platforms. Strong technical background in modern software architecture, including microservices, APIs, and cloud-native systems (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP). Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps best practices, and automation frameworks. Experience implementing and maintaining enterprise-grade security, reliability, and compliance standards. Familiarity with data analytics, performance monitoring, and business intelligence tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
