DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer Contract to Hire Remote $70-75/hr Overview We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer to support, enhance, and scale our continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) ecosystem. This role is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience in cloud-native environments, automation, observability, and modern release management. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring our systems are reliable, secure, and able to support rapid development and deployment cycles. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable rapid, stable, and automated application delivery. • Manage and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure with a focus on high availability, security, performance, and scalability. • Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications running on Kubernetes (K8s), including managing cluster lifecycle and workload orchestration. • Implement GitOps workflows using Flux to support automated deployments, environment consistency, and version-controlled infrastructure changes. • Develop Python scripts, automation tools, and operational utilities to streamline deployments and reduce manual processes. • Manage and optimize systems running on Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023), including configuration management, security hardening, and system-level maintenance. • Build, maintain, and improve observability tooling such as logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting to ensure system reliability and traceability. • Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to strengthen release processes and enforce best DevOps and SRE practices. • Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions. • Advocate for and implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles to ensure consistent and repeatable environment provisioning. Required Qualifications • 3–7+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or cloud engineering. • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, etc.). • Solid experience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes environments. • Proficiency with Flux or similar GitOps tools such as ArgoCD. • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. • Strong Python scripting and automation capabilities. • Experience administering and optimizing Amazon Linux 2023 systems. • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, cloud security best practices, and cloud-native architectures. • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is a plus. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced engineering environments. Preferred Skills • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker. • Knowledge of SRE concepts including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and reliability engineering principles. • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog. • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks integrated into CI/CD workflows. • Experience working with multi-account AWS environments and GitOps-driven infrastructure models.
