Tech Ops Engineer (Capital Markets, Back Office - Transaction Capture) 6-month Contract (W2 or C2C), opportunity for extension and conversion in the future 100% Remote (Eastern Standard business hours) Overview Our Fortune 10 Banking client is seeking a highly motivated Tech Ops Engineer to support a critical global transaction capture platform within their electronic trading business. This role supports transaction capture platforms across Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Commodities, Derivatives, and other asset classes, ensuring accurate capture, validation, processing, and downstream distribution of trade data throughout the post-trade lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting post-trade or back-office trading systems, performing manual testing, troubleshooting production issues, and working with transaction messaging technologies such as FIX, XML, JSON, and flat-file integrations. This position is heavily focused on production support, QA, transaction operations, and post-trade platform stability, ensuring trade data is accurately processed and delivered to downstream consumers, operational teams, and regulatory reporting platforms. Key Responsibilities Manual Testing & Quality Assurance • Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of transaction capture and post-trade processing systems. • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test data based on business and technical requirements. • Validate trade workflows, transaction processing logic, and downstream data flows across multiple asset classes. • Analyze and troubleshoot defects, document findings, and partner with development teams to resolve issues. • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production release validation activities. Production Support & Operational Stability • Provide Level 2 production support for critical transaction capture platforms and supporting applications. • Investigate and resolve production incidents impacting trade processing, trade enrichment, trade reporting, and downstream data distribution. • Investigate and resolve production issues including trade breaks, reconciliation discrepancies, failed allocations, settlement issues, and downstream reporting failures. • Perform root cause analysis using application logs, Linux commands, SQL queries, and monitoring tools. • Support early-morning and business-critical production activities as required. • Partner with Operations, Business, and Development teams during incident resolution and change management activities. Release Management & Deployments • Support application deployments and production releases using Jenkins and established CI/CD processes. • Coordinate release activities across Development, QA, Operations, and Business stakeholders. • Validate production deployments and perform post-release verification testing. • Support environment management activities across development, QA, UAT, and production environments. Messaging & Transaction Processing • Support transaction flows utilizing FIX Protocol and other messaging technologies. • Validate inbound and outbound transaction messages including FIX, XML, JSON, and flat-file formats. • Troubleshoot connectivity, message processing, sequencing, and data integrity issues. • Ensure transaction data is accurately captured, normalized, and delivered to downstream consumers and regulatory reporting systems. Required Qualifications • 4+ years of experience in Technical Operations, Production Support, QA Engineering, Application Support, or a related role. • Experience supporting capital markets, electronic trading, or financial services applications. • Hands-on experience supporting transaction capture systems within Capital Markets environments strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of post-trade workflows, transaction capture systems, and trade lifecycle concepts. • Experience performing manual testing including functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing. • Experience providing Level 2 production support for business-critical applications. • Hands-on experience working in Linux/Unix environments. • Experience troubleshooting FIX Protocol connectivity and messaging issues. • Familiarity with structured and semi-structured data formats including XML, JSON, and flat files. • Experience supporting production deployments using Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting transaction capture, trade processing, middle-office, or back-office platforms within large financial institutions. • Experience working with SQL for data validation and troubleshooting. • Exposure to AWS cloud technologies and monitoring tools. • Experience supporting applications across multiple asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Futures, or Options. • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, Jira, and Confluence. • Exposure to automation testing frameworks or future test automation initiatives.
