For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters. Reporting to the Director of Film Operations, the Associate Director, Front of House Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management, performance, and accountability of the cinema front-of-house team. This role ensures consistent staffing, high-quality patron experience, and smooth execution of cinema operations and events. This is a hands-on staff leadership role, with primary responsibility for staff management and events execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Personnel Management and Accountability: Directly manage Assistant Cinema Managers and Floor Staff with clear expectations, documented standards, and accountability. Build and maintain weekly schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage Offer consistent and frequent feedback and encourage a culture of mutual staff respect, support, and accountability Lead on hiring, onboarding, and training staff with a focus on fostering a culture of professionalism, reliability, and excellent customer service Provide conflict resolution interventions for staff, address issues promptly, clearly, and consistently. Daily Operations: Open and/or close the cinemas, and provide shift support as needed Ensure consistent execution of customer service standards, helping to build out a culture of radical hospitality Serve as an escalation point for patron issues or operational disruptions Review and approve payroll and time-off requests Work closely with the Director of Cinema Operations and the Senior Cinema Manager to refine, monitor, and improve concessions and box office operations, including workflows, staffing coordination, reporting, inventory management, and day-to-day operational efficiency with a goal of increasing profit margins. Events and Programming Support: Oversee the front-of-house execution for events in the cinemas, including talkbacks, rentals, and activations, serving as liason with external and internal partners, and ensuring successful staffing for events. Coordinate with the Film, Rentals, General Management, and Production teams in the planning of events utilizing the cinemas. Communicate clear expectations to staff including staff schedules, performance goals, and individual responsibilities Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience directly supervising a team with demonstrated accountability and performance management experience Strong customer service leadership and operational judgement Excellent communication and organizational skills Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Experience with Tessitura (preferred) Ability to track and accomplish multiple projects simultaneously and in a timely manner Highly self-motivated Exceptional attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Working Conditions: This position is almost exclusively on-site. Typical work week will be a mix of weekdays afternoons/evenings, and some weekend event supervision. Schedule will vary week-to-week based on activity. Requires the ability to climb stairs, stand for long periods, and lift/carry 10-15lbs objects. Compensation: The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $78,000. This position is full-time, exempt, and eligible for benefits.
