The Senior GIS & Data Analyst will support broadband expansion by transforming complex GIS and data into actionable insights, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and collaborating with various teams to enhance service delivery. Responsibilities • Support state and federal broadband grant applications and reporting requirements • Prepare and assist with regulatory filings to ensure compliance with FCC and funding program rules • Reconcile address data to FCC Broadband Serviceable Location (BSL) framework for accurate reporting • Develop and maintain GIS datasets, shapefiles, KMZs, and other spatial data formats • Perform advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing (buffers, overlays, routing, raster/vector workflows, map series) • Produce high‑quality maps for external stakeholders and efficiently generate large volumes of standard maps for internal use • Automate workflows and manage large datasets using Alteryx, SQL, and Python • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards to summarize and visualize broadband service data • Support integration with cloud databases (BigQuery, MS Fabric) for scalable analysis • Provide spatial and data support to the Broadband Office, Legal, Engineering, and other business units • Partner with colleagues across mass markets, wholesale, and operations to identify service areas and potential expansion opportunities • Contribute to process creation, documentation, and reporting tools that improve efficiency and accuracy • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the broadband grant program and organizational goals Skills • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Data Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent practical work experience • Demonstrated proficiency with GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS Pro v3 or higher), including layer manipulation and import/export of SHP/KML/LPXX formats • Hands‑on experience with SQL (intermediate to expert level) and Python scripting for data automation • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL tools for workflow automation and large dataset management • Strong background in data visualization using Power BI, including dashboard creation and report design • Familiarity with cloud database platforms (BigQuery, MS Fabric, or equivalent) • Proven ability to produce high‑quality maps for external audiences and efficiently generate large volumes of standard maps for internal use • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of managing multiple projects in fast‑paced environments • Advanced knowledge of geodatabase creation, feature manipulation, vector/raster workflows, and symbology design • Strong SQL and Python skills for data automation, transformation, and analysis • Ability to design clear, impactful maps and dashboards for both technical and non‑technical audiences • Skilled in developing efficient workflows, documentation, and automation to handle large datasets • Agile team player with experience working across legal, engineering, and business units • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights • Flexible and resourceful in a fast‑paced, evolving industry environment • Strong problem‑solving and project management skills, able to balance multiple priorities effectively • Advanced coursework or certification in GIS, data analytics, or database management Benefits • Competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • An employee assistance program • A 401K plan with company match • A host of voluntary benefits Company Overview • Brightspeed provides fiber and broadband services, enhancing connectivity for homes and businesses with reliable telecom solutions.
