Under the direction of the Director, Prospect Management & Research, the Manager, Prospect Research plays a critical role in identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for corporate and major gift cultivation and pipeline development across Breakthrough T1D. This role works closely with Global and Field Development Officers and Leadership to advance the work of the Prospect Research and Management Team across the organization by developing extensive corporate and individual prospect profiles, validating high-capacity rated prospects, identifying new corporate and major gifts prospect leads, as well as, assisting in, documenting, and implementing prospect research procedures. Responsibilities Proactively and reactively identifies and vets high net worth prospects and corporations with the capacity and inclination to grow the corporate prospect pipelines and ensure the best prospects are evaluated and uncovered based on their financial capacity, ability to give, philanthropic interests, and relationship to Breakthrough T1D. Conducts in-depth, complex, and accurate research on corporations, individuals, and foundations in the form of written prospect profiles, briefings, and reports. Investigates and evaluates new corporate, individual, and foundation donor prospects and leads and provides biographical and background information to determine potential for long- and short-term giving and development. Writes detailed prospect briefings for fundraising-related meetings and functions attended by Global Development staff, Leadership Team, and key volunteers. Works in conjunction with the Corporate and Institutional Giving, Leadership Giving, and Global Development Teams to identify, research, and distribute qualified leads to help build and sustain a strong pipeline of prospects and donors. Help summarize and synthesize data and other critical information in electronic files and within our current constituent management relationship database to ensure accurate data hygiene. Records, organizes, and maintains prospect information in electronic files and within our current constituent management relationship database (Salesforce CRM) to ensure accurate donor hygiene. Utilizes prospect research tools such as Wealth Engine, iWave, RelSci, and Foundation Center to conduct further analysis and assist with prospecting. In partnership with the greater Philanthropic Intelligence and Analytics Team, enhances and deepens portfolio and pipeline management and implementation across all of Breakthrough T1D. Ensures protocols are in place, adhering to all donor privacy and ethical standards upheld by APRA. Performs other responsibilities and projects assigned by immediate supervisor and senior management. Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in corporate, individual, and foundation prospect research and management with experience in data analysis. Demonstrated familiarity with standard biographical and financial reference sources, particularly in Corporate Social Responsibility and knowledge of basic research practices. Experience in fundraising operations for Volunteer Health Fundraising organizations (Diabetes related) preferred. Proficient in Salesforce CRM database and reporting capabilities. Ability to review, interpret, and synthesize a large volume of data into clear, concise analysis with a balance of brevity and substance. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate and apply creative solutions. Curiosity and interest in uncovering sometimes difficult to find information. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines to achieve desired outcomes on time. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Proven success in working both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of philanthropy, understanding of non-profit models, campaign management, and constituent relationship management. College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
