Business Analyst, Go Outdoors Must be US Citizen or Green Card holder W-2 Full Time Salaried Position 100% Remote - Must reside in the US full time Brandt Information Services is a leading provider of technology and marketing services for state wildlife and parks agencies, revolutionizing how agencies connect with and serve the public. From planning a camping trip to purchasing a hunting or fishing license, our solutions streamline the outdoor recreation experience. Every transaction — whether a boat registration, campground reservation, or educational event ticket—contributes to conservation efforts and enhances outdoor recreation opportunities. The Business Analyst plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This role leads the requirements gathering and analysis efforts to develop business requirements documents (BRD) and compose actionable user stories. Business Analysts will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, development team members, and the quality assurance team to ensure deliverables are met. Job Responsibilities • Requirement Gathering: Elicit and document business needs through interviews, workshops, and collaboration to ensure accurate and comprehensive requirements with internal stakeholders and customers. • Backlog Refinement: Collaborate with Product Owners to define and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional details for upcoming sprints. • Documentation: Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, workflows, and process diagrams that clearly articulate business needs. • Translation of Needs: Convert complex business problems into clear, actionable technical and functional requirements that guide development. • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to resource for clarifying requirements throughout the development lifecycle, supporting cross-functional alignment. • Prioritization Support: Assist in backlog prioritization by analyzing business value, risk, dependencies, and effort in collaboration with Product Owners. • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders to align business goals with functional requirements and product delivery. • Cross-Functional Communication: Facilitate conversations between business, technical, and QA teams to ensure shared understanding and implementation accuracy. • Ambiguity Resolution: Identify and resolve gaps, edge cases, or inconsistencies in requirements using critical thinking and analytical skills. • Agile Participation: Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives as part of the delivery team. • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and analyze issues to uncover root causes and provide recommendations for process or system improvements. • Standards & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to business analysis standards, templates, and practices to maintain quality and consistency across teams. • QA Collaboration: Partner with QA to validate requirements, review test cases, and confirm that delivered functionality meets business expectations. Job Competencies • Proven experience translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements that drive product success. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity and identify root causes. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and technical teams. • Proficiency in agile development environments and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and process modeling software. • A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and delivering business value. What You Will Need Staff II • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or equivalent roles within a technology product or services organization. • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and document functional requirements independently. • Experience working on cross-functional teams, contributing to backlog refinement, and writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria. • Proficient in using agile tools and process documentation (e.g., process flows, data mapping, use case modeling). • Basic customer-facing communication skills.
