About the Role: As a Reading Tutor at Braintrust Tutors, youll work with middle school students (6-8) in a school setting to strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills. Using our structured intervention programs and materials, youll deliver consistent, high-impact tutoring that meets each student where they are. Opportunity Details (subject to change): Start Date: Immediate Start Expected Duration: 12 Weeks Pay Rate: $60/Hour Schedule: (all hours are ET) Tuesday: 9:30am-2:30pm Wednesday: 8:00am-1pm Friday: 9:30am-2:30pm To be considered interested applicants must be available for entire schedule. PETS Status(Personnel Eligibility Tracking System NYC): Must be PETS cleared or willing to obtain PETS clearance via fingerprinting process (Braintrust Tutors will facilitate and pay). What You Will Do: • Provide small-group in-person tutoring in reading for students in grades 6-8th • Implement Braintrusts intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance • Collaborate with the Braintrust Operations team and school staff to support student growth • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence • Use provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities What You Will Have: • Bachelors degree in Education or a related field • Active or expired teaching license • Experience with foundational and advanced reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence. • Experience working with middle school students preferred • Strong classroom management and communication skills • Comfort navigating a school environment and collaborating with teachers and staff • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps Next Steps! • View an info video (sent after application) • Complete a one-way interview (sent after application) • Meet with a Recruiter to ask any questions that you have about working with us Braintrust Tutors is an equal employment opportunity employer.
