Lead complex exempt-organization tax compliance, advise on UBIT/UBTI, guide exemption matters, and develop practice leadership.

Job Description: • Lead compliance for complex exempt‑organization filings, including Forms 990/990‑PF/990‑T, related schedules (e.g., A, K, R), state filings, and multi‑jurisdictional requirements; oversee quality reviews and risk management. • Advise on UBIT/UBTI analyses, structuring of program‑related investments (PRIs), joint ventures, partnerships/LLCs, and alternative investments; design policies to mitigate tax risk. • Guide exemption matters (e.g., Forms 1023/1024, reorganizations, public‑support tests, private‑foundation excise tax, Chapter 42 concerns) and handle IRS/state controversy support. • Partner with audit/advisory teams on tax topics connected to financing, bond compliance, endowments, contributed‑revenue models, and grant/award implications. • Drive client experience and growth: scope and price engagements, lead proposals and thought leadership, cultivate C‑suite/board relationships, and develop industry eminence. • Lead and coach managers/seniors/associates; set clear expectations, deliver timely feedback, build training content, and champion inclusion and belonging across the team. • Contribute to practice leadership: refine methodologies, strengthen workflows, and advance data/automation in the NFP tax practice. • Champion sustainable workplace practices by supporting remote-first operations, promoting paperless workflows through digital collaboration tools, participating in recycling initiatives to minimize paper use, and consistently demonstrate alignment with BPM’s values. Requirements: • Credentials: CPA or EA (required).
