POSITION: 21st Century Program Coordinator REPORTS TO: Branch Manager SALARY: $21.06 - $21.69/hour HOURS: Part Time .75 fte - 30 to 39 Hours Weekly LOCATION: Lakewood Branch - 10402 Kline St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound (BGCSPS) is a non-profit organization that CHANGES LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable, and fun environment. BGCSPS’s mission is to inspire all young people, especially those who need us most, empowering them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of their community. We have been providing a safe, fun, and positive environment at our sites with trained and dedicated professional staff for more than 80 years. Members are involved in age-appropriate activities based upon our three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Character Development, and Healthy Lifestyles. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Branch Manager, or his/her designee, the 21st Century Program Coordinator plans, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program at the specified BGCSPS Branch/Site. The 21st CCLC Program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) oversees the administration of the federal grant, which funds 21st Century programs for our members. FUNCTION/TASKS • Serve as primary liaison between club staff, school staff, and BGCSPS grant administrative staff on 21st CCLC programs. • Coordinate with 21st CCLC staff to ensure that all grant mandated outcomes are achieved. • Document and track progress made by 21st Century participating students, and complete monthly and quarterly data reports as outlined by BGCSPS grant administrative staff. • Assist in the promotion and recruitment of youth in the 21st CCLC Program. Orient new members to the program as directed, and support retention of youth participation throughout the duration of the grant cycle. • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all members. • Utilize active supervision to supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times, implement educational enrichment and high yield learning activities. • Participate in 1:1s, branch and coordinator team meetings in addition to attending and participating in required professional development opportunities. • Work ethic to be responsible, accountable, provide follow up, complete tasks, and meet deadlines in a professional manner with accuracy and on schedule; regular and predictable attendance. • Create a safe environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes; promote and stimulate program participation; provide guidance and role modeling to members. • Provide effective and positive customer service by responding timely to parent, staff, volunteers, and school requests in a professional and timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum of 21 years of age; AA Degree and two (2) years experience in related fields; or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. • Must be able to comply with drug-free workplace policy. • Proven experience working directly with school-aged youth and knowledge of youth development; ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth; experience in program planning, implementation, and assessment. • Possess skills for instruction, direction, and guidance of youth with the ability to lead and control groups of children in various recreational and educational activities and settings. • Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office, email, internet research, social media navigation. • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate with diverse personalities while displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility. • Experience in tutoring and mentoring children or youth; motivate, engage, and manage behavioral challenges with peer mediation. • Must have the ability to be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours; adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment; other duties as assigned. • Driving • Must have a reliable personal vehicle for business related travel. • Valid WA State driver’s license with acceptable 3 year MVR - driving record. • Verification of Tier 2 Insurance standards. • Willingness to travel within a designated region for community partnership visits and business meetings. • Ability to successfully complete van driving; drug screen testing, training & requirements. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, being active and on your feet for a minimum of four hours; adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment; other duties as assigned. BENEFITS • Paid Sick Leave - In accordance with Washington Paid Sick Leave, you will accrue one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
