Position Description We’re hiring a Product Manager, Retention & Rewards, to own the strategy and execution for growing student MAUs – a core success metric for our student platform. You will own all key MAU drivers, including the Bold Rewards system, browser plugin, mobile app, lifecycle notifications, and more. This PM will own making Bold.org products more valuable and engaging - helping our members fight student debt and earning a deeper long-term relationship with them. You’ll work closely across engineering, design, operations, marketing, and data to define the roadmap and build a best-in-class retention and engagement loop for millions of Bold.org members. This is a high-impact IC role with full ownership of the retention & engagement domains, responsible for creating durable growth, healthier activation funnels, and a Rewards system that delights students while aligning with our core economics. What You’ll Own • MAUs. This will be the primary way you measure success and prioritize your efforts.and student retention across key lifecycle milestones. • Bold Rewards strategy, roadmap, and execution (earning, redemption, ledger experience, and long-term expansion). • Engagement surfaces including the mobile app, browser plugin, in-app notifications, and lifecycle messaging. • Klaviyo strategy for student lifecycle flows (activation, retention, reminders, re-engagement). • In-product nudges, notifications, and engagement loops (push, SMS, email, in-app). • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, ops, design, and marketing to ship features that improve habit formation and deepen platform engagement. • Experimentation & analytics to identify the highest-leverage retention opportunities. • Strategic guidance on how product decisions impact long-term student value, support load, and overall product economics. • Platform-wide thinking about how features like Rewards, plugin usage, and scholarship flow touch each other and drive sustained MAU. What You Bring • Demonstrated success as a retention, rewards, or lifecycle-focused product manager, preferably at a consumer-facing or fintech company. • SQL + strong analytical instincts. You build your own dashboards, become fluent in data, and generate models that guide real decisions. • Experience collaborating tightly with engineering, operations, design, lifecycle, and marketing teams. • Strong project leadership. You’ve driven high-impact initiatives end-to-end in fast-growing environments. • Experience with notifications, plugin adoption, lifecycle messaging, or rewards systems is a major plus. • Exceptional communication skills—simple, clear, kind. • Ability to simplify complex retention mechanics into intuitive product experiences. • A builder’s mindset. You are comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating from scratch. • A high-performing individual contributor who enjoys deep focus work and learning rapidly. • You are kind. You make the people around you better. Flexibility & Additional Notes • This role will evolve as the product surfaces improving MAU expands. Ownership may grow to include additional engagement surfaces, new redemption methods, and broader activation flows. • The split between this role and our Ops/Donors PM (Irina) is intentionally clean: • This PM: Student retention, engagement, Rewards, lifecycle messaging • Irina: Donor, Ops, and internal tooling product surfaces • We operate with high autonomy and expect PMs to run meaningful portions of the roadmap independently. We are remote-first, but maintain close collaboration via Slack, Linear, Notion, Loom, and weekly rituals. Compensation Range: $80K - $150K
