Oversee and inspect rail loading/unloading operations, ensure safety and compliance, monitor loads during transit, and manage related personnel and equipment.
Experience in rail or transportation safety, inspection, or operations, with strong communication skills and ability to work on-site.
Position Responsibilities: Promote safe work habits in ALL activities. Operate systematic equipment with the safety of the crew and equipment as the priority. Lead Inspector on rail loading and unloading. Oversee the loading of equipment and ensure secured for travel Scheduling loading and unloading inspections to meet customer expectations. Ensure rail loads travel safely from origin to destination, which requires constant contact with the rail engineer, walking the track when approaching obstructions along the route, and monitoring the load through the obstruction when operating shiftable deck rail cars. Inspect railcars/trailers for non-conformance workmanship and modification requirements at various locations. Monitor and analyze welding applications to BNSFL products. Manage contractors / BNSFL employees to perform various tasks. Ride the train caboose from origin to destination to monitor load. Oversee the offloading. Clean the railcar once unloaded and empty. Monitor a work station for the railcar. Maintain equipment at the loading site. Walk by rail card when approaching obstructions such as sharp turns, tunnels, etc., to ensure the load makes it through. Stay in contact with the train engineer via radio. Review orders from the railroad as to possible obstructions and prepare accordingly. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
