If living in one of our approved states (Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas) – possible occasional travel to our home office in Omaha, NE. The ideal candidate will live within driving distance of the Omaha, Nebraska office. This position allows remote flexibility but will have 2-3 days per week in the office. As a Cloud Data Engineer on the Nebraska Blue team, you will utilize advanced cloud, artificial intelligence, and automation technologies to enhance provider-focused solutions. We are seeking engineers who demonstrate initiative, accountability, and the ability to independently advance projects by translating strategic objectives into effective, scalable data solutions with limited supervision. Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship. What you'll do: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university 2 or more years of progressively complex related experience. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand provider and business needs through design thinking and workflow analysis. Work backwards from customer needs to deliver high-quality, scalable data pipelines and integrations. Apply AI/ML and automation (including Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and GitHub Copilot) to optimize data workflows and accelerate development. Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate, learning from feedback and data. Take initiative and ensure accountability for results. Orchestrate integrations with intent, delivering seamless experiences—not just technical connectivity. Adopt modern engineering practices in cloud, data, and automation. Key Responsibilities: Deliver scalable, cloud-native data solutions for provider technologies. Lead automation and orchestration of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps, Function Apps, and IICS (Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services). Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all systems. Foster transparent, cross-functional collaboration. Optimize data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency using AI-driven insights. Support ongoing enhancements and strategic initiatives in provider data and medical management. Integrate systems with a focus on experience and purposeful outcomes. What You Bring: Advanced experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), including Data Factory, Databricks, Function Apps, Logic Apps, and integration services (IICS). Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, plus hands-on experience in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., Azure ML, Cognitive Services). Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive projects forward once given direction. Experience with design thinking, customer journey mapping, automation, and troubleshooting complex data systems. Proficiency with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot). Excellent communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude. Preferred Skills: Healthcare or provider tech experience; knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements. Experience supporting large-scale data integrations and partner collaborations. Knowledge of database structures, data analysis, and accessing information through APIs. Exposure to generative AI, conversational AI, or intelligent automation frameworks. Track record of driving continuous improvement and process optimization. Familiarity with enrollment processes and related data workflows. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement. The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments. On-call work may be required based on business needs and role assignment. The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.
